Sometimes our Biggest Enemies are those who Realize our Greatest Hopes

  1. Sometimes he connects ideas like we connect internal links, and I get to the end and I'm all like, "Nuclear war, really Glenn?"

And then he's all "Obama -.-"

  2. The saddest thing about this is that he is a man in our society that we have privileged with his own show to speak to millions on a weekly/daily basis. This is where people are being educated and thats where the problem begins

  3. However though the point of my post is that the exact reasoning he is doing in the above picture is EXACTLY what those of us in the Left do want. That is our exact reasoning too. Even though Beck himself is an idiot, he is an honest idiot.
Bill O'Reilly recently had Beck on his show and told him that he thought Beck was stupid for saying the Egyptian riots would be part of the "coming insurrection" (beck's actual words, yes he was referencing the book). And i think Bill's comments are symptomatic of where he stands politically, while yes he is on the right, when put on the same spectrum as Beck and lets say Lenin, O'Reilly falls near the middle. The business of the middle is to de-legitimize the true radical left. Whereas Beck and the far-Right realize the same thing the Left does, that this is a (class) war and the left would like to see those protests become contagious and spread, the Middle serves to neutralize change so much that they refuse to even acknowledge it stripping the meaning of truly radical events.
So it's probably not only that our biggest enemies realize our greatest hopes, but that our biggest enemies might be more valuable than our closet cousins.

  4. What do you think of this article? http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2011/02/16/revolution_u?page=0,0

I've only gotten about halfway through but it seems interesting that revolution can be "taught", almost paradoxically.

  5. I think the idea is for sure an interesting one. I don't know if all revoluitons should be attributed to CANVAS in paticular but the fact that there are people how are realizing that traditional forms of protest (marches, rallies, etc.) need not be the go-to tactics of resistance gives great hope. I would probably agree with CANVAS that revolution is and should not be spontaneous but rather a constant mode of being, one that strives to constantly win small victories to give momentum to a larger struggle. The tactics of CANVAS work due to the fact that groups of people can come together for a "surgical strike" against the ruling order, to lets say roll a barrel down a street, and then disband as quickly as they formed. However once they disband not only did they accomplish a good FU to the government but made new connections with others who can be used in future demonstrations as well as garnered support. Each small act can resonate with people and create vibrations and disruptions elsewhere, if you have ever heard the nigh-time noise of crickets then you will understand revolution. Many small acts resonating with each other can create an overwhelming block of noise.

  6. I completely agree with Max. I find it incredibly unnerving that people are accepting his obviously religio-racist and insane theories as truth.

  7. Exactly PJ. I totally understand Hanks point but those of us who choose to endure in the activity that is philosophy do not do it to construct some tower of impervious truths but rather to re-examine presupposed points of knowledge/truths or as a great German man once told me to "philosophize with a hammer". My problem is not with Beck so much because in reality the probability of him actually believing the things he says is low because that is his platform for his TV show neo-conservative gibber gabber. People want to hear "Obama is a socialist", and "Terrorists are going to kill us all" and Beck being a good business man knows this. My problem is with people who allow themselves to be dominated by such shallow modes of thought and who blindly become apart of this cesspool of misinformation.
